Bajan Band NEXCYX Wins Hennessy “Chase The Music Own The Stage” Competition
Hennessy International launched its worldwide competition Chase the Music. Own the Stage. in April to find the best emerging musical talents from around the globe and the winners came from this full-a-talent-sexy-melting-pot-a-people AKA The Caribbean. More specifically they hail from the land of flying fish Barbados!
Of the hundreds of video entries submitted by Facebook fans of their own musical performances ranging from hip hop to soul, all for a chance to take their music from online to onstage at this year’s Blues Passions festival 2012 where they would perform live in Hennessy’s hometown of Cognac, France, Nexcyx band emerged the top contender.
After a submission period of over a month, an extensive judging process ensued with judges Maurice Hennessy, Blues Passions founder Michel Rolland, editor-in-chief of Clash Magazine Simon Harper and Rolling Stone India’s editor Lalitha Suhasini all considering the entries, as well as public voting from Hennessy Facebook fans worldwide.
The five-member band based in Barbados will be flying to Cognac to perform on stage at Blues Passions festival 2012, a festival that has previously hosted performances by musical legends including B.B. King, Gil Scott Heron and Ray Charles, with this year’s A-list line up includingImany, Tom Jones, Hugh Laurie, Selah Sue and Sting.
Check out Nexcyx performing “Queen”. Love the Bajan backdrop.
Though they did not win we at CaribbeanCelebs.com still want to send a shoutout to the other Caribbean finalists: Kes The Band and Kefa – both representing Trinidad & Tobago and Simon Pipe of Barbados
