Kris Kelli Hits Home Run in ATL
As Block Entertainment label's new sensation, Kris Kelli is stiring a frenzy in ATL, USA, blending her sensual island style to create an edgy hybrid of southern Hip-Hop. She is already being compared to the likes of Ciara and Rihanna. Originally discovered in Kingston at the age of 17 by Nelly Furtado's manager, Kelli worked with an independent team to develop a steady career in Jamaica accumulating chart topping hits such as "Kotch Aroun" and collabs with internationally acclaimed artistes such as Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel.
It has been almost a year since Kelli moved to ATL, USA, in an attempt to take her career to a new level. When introduced to industry veteran Russell "Block" Spencer's of Block Entertainment label, he saw her potential and scooped her up immediately. In a recent feature of Hip-Hop Weekly Block stated: "She's beautiful, has an amazing voice and is one of the most down-to-earth people you will ever meet."
U.S. audiences were officially introduced to Kelli earlier this year when she collaborated with label mate Gorilla Zoe, on a track entitled "Me & You" for which a video has already been shot. "Me & You" speedily became one of the most requested songs on Atlanta's V-103.3 FM. A track which pays homage to Method Man and Mary j. Blige. It also included a sample of the iconic 1968 classic - "You're All I Need To Get By".
This month Kelli's official single, "Home Run", was released. The title is a fitting name for the track, which is already scoring rave reviews. The suggestive track is a mere teaser of what is to come, successfully demonstrating Kelli's prowess as a well-rounded artiste, who is versatile and ready for the U.S. market. According to Hip Hop Weekly "If these two efforts foreshadow Kris Kelli's imminent success, then we can expect to see this Kingston songstress become an industry phenomenon in the very near future."
