International superstar Lionel Richie Expected to Perform at St. Lucia Jazz Festival 2012
Castries, St. Lucia.- The multiple Grammy winner is just one of the many international acts expected to grace the stage at this year's 21st Annual St. Lucia Jazz Festival, carded to take place from April 30th to May 13th, alongside Rhythm and Blues/Pop sensation Keri Hilson, neo-soul vocalist Melanie Fiona, reggae giant 'Ziggy' Marley, Jamaican danchall phenom Buzy Signal and gospel recording superstar Kirk Franklin.
Not to be outdone, the show will also feature many local and regional talented performances by a very stellar cast. With Caribbean titans such as Etienne Charles, the Derek Yarde Project ‘DYP”, Black Antz Jazz Combo, Loula Trio, featuring Ricardo Francois Sisterhood covering a wide sweep of Jazz and fusion styles. Music lovers, both local and expected will no doubt enjoy the selection. Latin afficionadoes will not be by-passed as popular samba group the Gipsy Kings will send temperatures soaring. Even those individuals who have not obtained their soca quota filled will groove to the music of soca power couple Fay Ann and Bunji Garlin as they are all set to perform at Mindoo Phillip Park at the opening of the show.
The St. Lucia Jazz experience will be spread all over the island at some of the most exotic locations on the island. The very popular Coconut Bay Resort & Spa will provide a very scenic background for the rich island sounds of Gil Tony'k, with Tony Chasseur and Gilles Voyer on Saturday April 28th while Pigeon Island National Landmark will rock with the music of the Derek Yarde Project on Friday, May 11th, Keri Hilson and Alison Marquis Nonet featuring Andy Narell on Saturday May 12th and South African vocalist and trumpet maestro Hugh Masekela the following day. Local fans are also in for a treat as the Cameron Pierre band is expected to launch their highly expected album 'Radio Jumbo' on Tuesday May 1st at the picturesque Rudy John Beach Park.
